Item #5 Irish Families Found in the 1825 and 1831 Population Census (U.S.) $7.00 for Dorchester County, Quebec - Book The 1825 and 1831 population census for Lower Canada were "heads of household" census, so they were short in length. These census are important for the Frampton Irish in that they tend to identify the first residents of the area and confirm their presence in those time periods. A copy of the actual census page for the Township of Frampton is provided. The booklet also provides extractions of names in the neighboring communities of Ste. Marie, St. Francois and Ste. Claire (early residents of East Frampton). The 1831 extractions include the communities of Frampton, Ste. Marie, Ste. Claire (early residents of Ste. Marguerite) and St. Francois. The available microfilms for the 1831 census are difficult to read with some "bizarre" spellings.
